Dr. Sametra D. Brown

Dr. Sametra D. Brown currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for the Yazoo City Municipal School District, where she supports the implementation and oversight of programs designed to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for students across the district. With more than 26 years in education, Dr. Brown has served in a variety of leadership roles including teacher, assistant principal, curriculum coordinator, principal, school improvement officer, federal programs director, and executive director of human resources. Through these roles, she has contributed to instructional improvement, school leadership development, and districtwide initiatives focused on student success .Dr. Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, as well as a Specialist degree and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. She also holds a Master’s degree in English from William Carey College. In addition, she has completed the Superintendent Leadership Academy and the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) and holds certifications in English and educational administration. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Cedric Brown and is the proud mother of one son, Aiden.
