Philip G. Turner
Superintendent Quitman County Schools - Marks, MS
Dr. Philip Turner currently serves as Superintendent of the Quitman County School District, where he leads efforts to strengthen district systems, develop leaders, and improve student outcomes. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Dr. Turner holds a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. With more than a decade of experience in education, Dr. Turner has built his career around creating systems that help students learn, lead, and thrive. His leadership focuses on aligning strategy with measurable student outcomes while addressing academic and non-academic barriers, including mental health, attendance, and family engagement. Since beginning his career in 2014, Dr. Turner has served as a special education teacher, driver’s education instructor, head basketball coach, assistant principal, high school principal, Director of School Innovation, and Deputy Superintendent. He has also founded community-centered initiatives that connect education, mentorship, and civic responsibility to create supportive spaces for youth development. As a Fellow of The Promise Network, Dr. Turner is committed to collaborative learning, partnership, and sustainable change that expands opportunities for students.
