Dr. Takeda LeGrand currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for Hertford County Public Schools, where she supports district leadership and strategic initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for students, families, and communities. She earned a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University, an Executive Juris Doctorate in School Law from Concord Law School at Purdue University Global, a Master of Arts in Teaching from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She also holds multiple professional licenses and certifications in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, career and technical education, special education supervision, and project management. With more than twenty-two years of experience across classroom, school, district, and state education systems, Dr. LeGrand has led efforts focused on instructional improvement, workforce development, and student success. Her work includes developing grants, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen educational opportunities for children, adults, and families. She has also served as a Superintendent of Schools, State Education Consultant, District Administrator, School-based Administrator, Classroom Teacher, Adjunct Professor of Education, and contributing editor for the Journal of the Alliance of Black School Educators. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of T&T Consultants LLC., an education development company she co-founded with her daughter. Outside of her professional work, Dr. LeGrand enjoys hosting family gatherings, visiting the ocean, and volunteering with organizations that enrich youth and communities.
