Advancing Education Justice Through Evidence

The Southern Education Foundation (SEF) Research Fellows program supports early- to mid-career scholars who are committed to advancing education justice and opportunity across the South. Through applied research, collaboration, and support, Fellows contribute to building a more just and inclusive education system for all students, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.

Program Overview

SEF Research Fellows work alongside SEF staff and partners to produce actionable research that informs policy and practice. Fellows explore critical issues such as educational access, school funding justice, college affordability, early learning, and workforce development. The program is designed to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact, amplifying findings that drive change.

Fellows receive access to SEF’s extensive research and advocacy network, and opportunities to present findings through SEF platforms and publications.
