The Educational Justice Professional Learning Series, Session 3:
Building Positive Relationships Through Asset-Based Thinking
Presented in partnership with the Center for Black Educator Development, the third webinar in this series focuses on how cultural perceptions can affect classroom teaching and expectations for individual students. In the U.S., misperceptions about people from different cultural, linguistic, or ethnic backgrounds are common. Such misperceptions can result in students being viewed negatively rather than valued for their experiences and capabilities. Speakers will help educators shift from deficit-based perceptions to an asset-based approach focused on each student’s talents and strengths.
