Georgia Senate Study Committee on African American Students Adopts SEF Funding Recommendations

In October, SEF President and CEO, Raymond C. Pierce, testified before the Georgia Senate Study Committee on the Educational Development of African American Children in the State of Georgia. His testimony focused on the history of education in the South along with updated achievement and funding gap disparities between Black and white students. The Senate panel’s final report adopted SEF’s funding recommendation encouraging the state legislature to fully fund Quality Basic Education and update the funding formula to match the current cost of educating students from low-income families.
